SUMMARY *** After upgrading to 7.9.0 from 7.8.0 digikam doesn´t connect to the database server. downgrading to 7.8.0 solved the issue. once more upgrading returned the problem. dwongrading solved it again. so there seems to be a genuine 7.9.0 problem with 7.9.0 accessing a maria-db database server. (IP 198.178.1.12:3307 user digikam_neuss password with letters such as $%). system mac powerbook intel mac os ventura 13.1, database server synology ds 920+, mariadb port 3307. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. upgrade to 7.9.0 using the system above. 2. start digikam 3. OBSERVED RESULT error came up: cannot connect to database, check the settings. after chekcing the settings connection test failed EXPECTED RESULT should start digikam without any problems SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS macOS: ventura 13.1 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION downgrading to 7.8.0 solved the problem, database access worked without any problem.
