If you activate the option to show the icons in the virtual desktop menu bar widget then the icons dont appear if the current theme is also Arc-Dark. You can see them appear when howering for few msecs tho. Operating System: Fedora Linux 37 KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.101.0 Qt Version: 5.15.7 Arc-Kde package version: 20220908
Does the issue persist if you clear the icon cache by running `rm ~/.cache/icon-cache.kcache` in a terminal window and then rebooting? If so, can you attach a screenshot--or better yet, a screen recording--that shows this happening?

See https://youtu.be/SO5IHRt45W4. - dark theme: I select Desktop 1 2 3 2 1 no icons in the widgets, they briefly appear on mouse move however - light theme: Same but you can see the icons of the apps - dark theme again: Same, no more icons
Thanks, that's helpful. My guess is that the icon theme used in the Arc Dark global themes provides icons for those apps that are the same color as the background at that icon size. If you stay with the Arc Dark global theme, and then go to the icons page, and switch the icon theme to either "Breeze" or "Breeze Dark" (or even the light variant of the arc icons, if it's installed), does the problem go away?
No problems with BreezeDark, so I dont think that it's a problem with the icons. desktop 2 is not a KDE application anyway (icons : https://gitlab.com/basile.b/dexed/-/tree/master/logo).
If Breeze Dark works, I am indeed suspecting it's a problem with the icons. :) What icon theme are you using when this happens?
The problems persists, whatever is the selected set of icons.
Now I'm confused because in comment 4, you said: "No problems with BreezeDark, so I dont think that it's a problem with the icons." When you said "BreezeDark", were you referring to a global theme or Plasma theme by that name, andnot an icon theme? I had asked you to try the Arc Dark global theme with the Breeze Dark icon theme. Can you try that again and verify the status of it?
I was referring to the global theme.
Right. Can you try the Arc Dark global theme with the Breeze Dark icon theme?
I'm gona report this to https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTeam/arc-kde/issues
Unsurprinsingly already reported : https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTeam/arc-kde/issues/139
Yeah, I had a feeling this was going to turn out to be an icon theme bug!
