As far as I know, we aren't doing any special styling on that text box. So I'm curious if other Kirigami text areas are misstyled? I'm suspecting there's something up with your theme. Not really fixing the issue, but in the next release you'll be able to select another color scheme like in other KDE applications, which can get around this.
This is caused by a long standing issue with the packaging of qqc2-desktop-style on non-plasma desktop environments :(
