Journal logs while text in search hangs

SUMMARY

After first logging in, searching in the application launcher hangs for a couple seconds after typing the first letter. Subsequent letters you've typed only appear after a two second hang. This does not occur for any additional searches. The OS and all binaries sit on a relatively fast SATA SSD, and waiting a lengthy time after logging in doesn't make a difference, so I don't think this is expected behavior.

Looking at logs, it seems it has to wait to start the search index service once you start searching. I'll be attaching those logs in followup comments.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Log in with a new session
2. Open application launcher
3. Start typing

OBSERVED RESULT
Search hangs for a couple seconds, and typed letters past the first only appear afterwards

EXPECTED RESULT
Typing immediately responds
