SUMMARY *** While I can maximize a window by pushing it up against the top edge of the screen on the primary monitor, I cannot do the same on the 2nd monitor. However I can maximize the windows on the second monitor using the maximize button in the title bar. *** I have a dual monitor setup with the taskbar panel on the top of the primary monitor and no panels on the secondary monitor. The desktop is not mirrored across the monitors, instead each monitor desktop is independent of the other. I am not using any plasma window effects like wiggle, etc. When I push the window up against the top edge of the 2nd monitor screen, it's like there is no hard stop at the top of the monitor canvass. Instead the canvass extends past the top bounds of the monitor and has no hard edge, so the windows slip beyond the top of the monitor in to non desktop space. I can move my mouse about in the non desktop space beyond the top edge of the screen to pull the top of the window back down into the workspace so I can then maximize the window using the maximize button in the window's title bar, which works as expected. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open window on primary monitor. 2. Drag to secondary monitor. 3. Throw/push the window up against the top edge of the monitor. OBSERVED RESULT Window slides beyond the top of the monitor into non desktop space. EXPECTED RESULT Window maximizes. Thank you for the bug report! Please note that Plasma 5.25.5 is not supported for much longer by KDE; supported versions are 5.24, and 5.26 or newer. If at all possible please upgrade to a supported version and verify that the bug is still happening there. If you're unsure how to do this, contact your distributor about it.
I have now upgraded my system via kubuntu backports to the following KDE version Plasma: 5.26.4 Frameworks: 5.100.0 Qt: 5.15.6 But the bugged functionality still exists.
Today I looked at the NVidia settings app and noticed the second screen was set to absolute positioning, so I set it to left of the primary screen and now I have the ability to maximize windows by pushing the window up against the top of the screen as expected. So that appears to be problem solved.
