SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open KStars 3.6.2 Stable (I used MacOS 13.0.1 and Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS) 2. Center and track any object (either via search or right-clicking for menu) 3. Note that position information in upper-right (you may have to double click for full visibility) you will note that most of the data (e.g., Az/Alt info) is not updating. In fact, I only see that HA updates. 4. While on the same object, right-click to select "Center and Track" from menu and not that position then does update 5. To make the lack of updating more apparent, increase the time scale from 1 sec to 1 min, then repeat 3 and 4 above. OBSERVED RESULT Only HA positional information for a selected object updates as time advances. Selecting "Center & Track" will update positional info each time it is selected, but otherwise only HA updates. EXPECTED RESULT All positional information (RA/Dec, Az/Alt, HA/ZA) should update automatically as time changes. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: Not tried macOS: 13.0.1 Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS (available in About System) I do not know the specific versions of the below, but my ubuntu is fully up-to-date using 'apt update/upgrade' KDE Plasma Version: KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Cannot reproduce on 3.6.2 Linux. Az/Alt and HA/ZA are all updated each second. You're sure KStars is not paused??
Created attachment 154714 [details] Screen Capture Video demonstrating bug 463249 To decrease file size to fit file size limit, resolution was reduced, but, especially if playback window size is increased, there is enough resolution to see that only HA updates as described in bug report. Not sure why it is not reproducible as it also happens on MacOS using kde.org downloaded file. Note: kstars-bleeding version is 6:3.6.2+202211301814-ubuntu22.04.1 amd64. This problem only started recently (a month ago it was not happening, but I am not sure when it started as I did not notice till now).
