Thank you for reporting. On Linux translation works. On Windows and Mac translation doesn’t work. We have an issue with locale in the Kdenlive code which we cannot solve that easy (it seems KDE Framework has to be adapted to solve this issue). See here: https://invent.kde.org/multimedia/kdenlive/-/issues/923.

Hopefully someone fixes this, it is really embarrassing for l10n communities ...

With the fix of bug 464694, translated UI texts coming from Qt or from KF libraries should now be displayed in the correct language (if kdenlive uses the upcoming KF5 1.104).

Today's macOS build (1402) at https://binary-factory.kde.org/job/Kdenlive_Nightly_macos/ still doesn't show all strings, but that may be due to still not using KF5 1.104?

Should be fixed in the latest 23.04.0 release

Some strings remain in English

It seems that the main kdenlive.po file is now finally used. But ...
There are strings remaining in English for Slovenian which has KDE fully localized (except for documentation po files).
I am attaching such a screenshot - it seems Kdenlive uses some other (not updated?) system po/mo files - could you locate the source of these unlocalized strings, please?
I would leave the bug open, until it is clear how to finish off the display other un-localized strings.

This bug is still open and I am still waiting for an answer which of the other po files contains these "untranslated" strings.
My fear is these files are not up-to-date, as KDE is fully localized into Slovenian (except for documentation).
See for yourself:
Kf5-stable
https://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/stable-kf5/team/sl/
Kf5-trunk
https://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/trunk-kf5/team/sl/
Kf6
https://l10n.kde.org/stats/gui/trunk-kf6/team/sl/

So there is just no way to get "Cancel" and such buttons in the interface in English.

Kdenlive_QT-icon

I can confirm that on Slovenian the Qt-Icons are not translated on Mac and Windows (as you show on your screenshot) . But Italian and Hebrew (for example), the Qt-Icons are translated. Maybe some Qt settings are not proper done: sl,Slovenian?

I checked that Qt does have Slovenian translations (see https://code.qt.io/cgit/qt/qttranslations.git/tree/translations). One difference to most other languages is that for Slovenian the "base" translations are all in qt_sl.ts while for example for Italian qt_it.ts is just a dummy file that includes qtbase_it.ts and a few other .ts files. If this difference causes the problem then it should be reproducible with other languages using just the qt_LL.ts file, e.g. gl, lt, pt_PT, sv.

If you add `kf5.ki18n.debug=true` to the qtlogging.ini (for details see https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qloggingcategory.html#logging-rules), then you'll get debug output if loading a language catalog fails. Moreover, on Windows, you could use Process Monitor to check which .qm files kdenlive loads. I won't have time to look into this for the next few weeks.

I am using macOS, so I do not know how to check this.
