See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Krita is a great app but the splash screen on the version I'm using 5.0.2 is really inappropriate, a young girl anime girl with suspenders. Please change to something inoffensive, or at the very least, an option to define a different splash screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open up Krita 2. 3. Sorry, no it isn't. And if you don't like it, you can always start krita with the --no-splash option.
(In reply to Halla Rempt from comment #2) > Sorry, no it isn't. And if you don't like it, you can always start krita > with the --no-splash option. This isn't really a helpful reply. If someone has a different opinion about what is inappropriate, it is worth listening. I was going to suggest to my local secondary school that they use Krita as replacement software for Adobe products. However, I can't do this with the current splash screen. The female character is overly sexualised, wearing a mini-dress and suspender belts, and it is an inappropriate image for an educational setting IMHO. This means the whole Krita project is missing out. It is worth noting that I'm not the only person to have raised this in different places. There are plenty of examples of appropriate splash screens eg Inkscape's whole series AFAIK

Sorry, but if you're finding this image sexualized, the problem is you. There is not even any skin visible... And in a school setting you can just make sure nobody sees the splash screen by using this option globally, for instance by editing the .desktop file or the .ini file used for starting Krita. We're not going to change it until we release the next major version, so there is no reason to reopen this bug report.
> Sorry, but if you're finding this image sexualized, the problem is you. The voice of patriarchy! That's a real shame, Krita as a project will suffer as a result :(
a) I'm a woman b) No skin? c) Schools, especially from the US and Australia are a huge pain in any case because they want me to sign all kinds of legal papers (which I always refuse). We have never suffered from that... d) Kiki is integral to Krita's branding. There's no way we're going to change that: https://krita.org/en/about/kiki/ e) I've given you an appropriate solution in a setting where applications are installed and managed centrally
a) I'm a woman "The voice of patriarchy" is a reference to the world view of male dominated society, not your gender b) No skin? What? c) Schools, especially from the US and Australia are a huge pain in any case because they want me to sign all kinds of legal papers (which I always refuse). We have never suffered from that... It's a missed opportunity d) Kiki is integral to Krita's branding. There's no way we're going to change that: https://krita.org/en/about/kiki/ Fine, I'm not recommending Krita anyways e) I've given you an appropriate solution in a setting where applications are installed and managed centrally It's not about a technological solution, it's about the organisation's ethos
