Description Stefano 2022-12-10 09:39:24 UTC
SUMMARY
In its current state, the search for themes, colours, icons is difficult to use due to the overabundance of almost identical themes, which are updated almost daily by basically two or three authors (you probably know them). It has become extremely difficult to find anything that is not produced by them, especially if one searches for most recent, and this makes both pling and the integrated knewstuff tool much less usable than it would otherwise be.
Since I don't think it is feasible or probably even fair to ask to ban these contributors, I think a good solution might be to allow the end user to set filters to exclude unwanted themes or authors from the lists.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open https://store.kde.org or a knewstuff window
2. Search for a theme, icon or colorscheme that's not submitted by the same one/two authors

OBSERVED RESULT
You have to scroll a long time before you find a theme that is not among the unwanted authors and be very careful to see it there.

EXPECTED RESULT
I want to be able to access the whole variety of themes available without having to struggle slaloming through the enormous vastness of themes all the same and too frequently updated produced by just one or two authors.

In fact I think it is reasonable to remove that content. It's not fair to everyone for one or two people to spam the store with many things that are 99% identical.

Can you please give me a list of authors and some example spammy content?

I want to make it clear that I would never dare to ask to remove content produced by someone who might be hyper-productive without realizing that they are spamming. There might be people who appreciate what is produced anyway.

Therefore, my suggestion was to give the end user the opportunity to set their own filters.

To answer your request anyway, I can say that if I could filter content by author, I would like to not have the productions of user l4k1, and to a lesser extent user yeyushengfan258.

But again, I would prefer it to be a personal choice, and I would not want this request to trigger some kind of "police operation". Therefore, if the solution should be to delete the content or ban the authors, I would prefer to withdraw this request.

I did want to see if the content was low-value, spammy stuff, but it doesn't really look like it, at least not that much.

The request is reasonable.
