Description Xeno Idaltu 2022-12-06 07:08:58 UTC
When opening files we should get the File Picker appear with same options we chose the last time we opened it. In this case I chose to have image files have previews, but when I close File Picker and open it again I have to click "Show Preview" again to have image previews.

Operating System: Kubuntu 22.04
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

Are you talking about specifically the xdg portal file dialog, or the file dialog for a non-portal-using app?

Which app opened the dialog in question?

Can confirm! Perfectly describes my issue too. Has been happening since I updated my KDE installment to 5.27.1 (latest as of this comment). For reference, I tried changing it off ~./.config/xdg-desktop-portal-kderc and putting in the string "Show Inline Previews=true", yet no effect.

Operating System: Arch Linux (EndeavourOS)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.1
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.103.0
Qt Version: 5.15.8

Unfortunately, not tech-savvy enough to understand these terms, but if this is any help, it's the file dialog off any program that calls off the KDE file chooser when you want to upload into or save a image off, like Firefox.

Interestingly enough, this bug seems to have been resurfaced. First discovered on 2021, thanks to this user off KDE forums:

Hi, sorry for bumping this, but I found the workaround. Turns out to be just configuration cache corruption? Delete kdeglobals off your .config folder, then delete the .cache folder, log out then log in. Finally the previews are by default on always anytime I open the file picker.

Be warned though that this resets some of your saved KDE's System Settings.

Migrating "reproducible" keyword to "CONFIRMED" status.
