SUMMARY After some problems reported in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=462598 I installed digikam 7.8 from the Flatpak package. I noticed that in that version I cannot open RAW images in Darktable anymore through the context menu (right click on an image -> open with). Even when I click on "more", Darktable does not show as an option. Is that possibly an issue with the Flatpak package or has the option been removed entirely? STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Install digikam 7.8 from Flatpak 2. Right click on an image and select "open with" OBSERVED RESULT Darktable does not show up as an option EXPECTED RESULT Darktable shows up SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Kubuntu 22.04 KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.7 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.100.0 Qt Version: 5.15.7 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION on request
Snap packages or Flatpak are all systems that use a sandbox. Please try our AppImage, just download it, make it executable and run it. Maik
And use the digiKam-7.9.0 AppImage coming soon. Maik

Thanks for the explanation. The problem I see with AppImages is that they are not updated automatically. Additionally, my system is already using Apt, Snap, and Flatpak, which I think are too many different methods. But that's a personal choice. At least I know why digikam behaves as it does. I might go back to the 7.5 apt packages or use Rob Savoury's PPA (https://launchpad.net/~savoury1/+archive/ubuntu/digikam) to maintain the option and automatic updates. I'll see.
