Description frederic.parrenin@univ-grenoble-alpes.fr 2022-11-24 12:15:54 UTC
When teaching, I sometimes show what I do on my laptop using a videoprojector.
For that, I use the 'clone' mode of the screen.
It works, but the down side is that the students see everything on my screen (e.g., the KDE panel, my running apps, the applets, etc.), while I just want to show one window, for privacy reasons.
So my suggestion would be to allow to clone only one window.
It is exactly the choice you have when you want to share your screen during a visioconference (e.g. using Zoom), you can choose the whole screen or just one window.
What do you think about this idea?

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian Bookworm
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0
Qt Version: 5.15.6

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I am not sure where to report that, would it belong to kwin or kscreen?

This is out of scope for KScreen, but it could be a KWIn feature, or even a thing someone could implement with a KWin script.

It's out of scope for now.
