switching proxy on and off on the clip

SUMMARY
When I make a proxy clip from a video file that has auto rotate enabled, the proxy clip does not auto rotate. So it ends up upside down in the timeline, whereas the original is rightside up.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. import clip that has has auto rotate enabled
2. create proxy
3. add to timeline

OBSERVED RESULT
proxy is upside down

EXPECTED RESULT
proxy should be rightside up like original clip

Can you please provide a sample of a clip that produces this?
Comment 2 Evert Vorster 2022-11-24 09:25:32 UTC
On my system, I tried it with some GoPro footage from a Hero 10 that was mounted upside-down.
In this camera, it then sets the auto-rotate flag. Both the original and proxy display properly.

I can even set the auto-rotate flag in clip properties, and each time I make a change, a new proxy is produced, and each time the orientation of the proxy matches the original.

Have you tried to manually set the auto-rotate flag in the clip properties?

I have since found this happens in the automatic, mjpeg and mjpeg2 settings, not in Prores or x264 encoding settings. So the Prores and x264 settings autorotate the clips properly.

Can you reproduce this in latest version?
