SUMMARY Plasma doesn't respect powersave settings. I have all energy saving options turned off, including the monitor - it is set to NEVER turn off. However, sometimes it goes to sleep despite the setting in the power options. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Left the PC idle for a while. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT Sometimes the monitor goes to sleep. EXPECTED RESULT It should never go to sleep for the setting is set to never. https://i.imgur.com/UYw52es.png SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.3 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0 Qt Version: 5.15.7 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I'm 99% sure the monitor itself has an internal "turn off after X minutes" setting and this is what's happening. Please investigate using the monitor's menus. Also, I notice you're using per-activity power settings. Does this happen if you stop using per-activity settings and set the desired settings using the normal page?
Nope, my monitor doesn't have such function. And this problem appeared with Plasma 5.26. My monitor settings isn't changed for ages. Thanks for your suggestion - where is the normal page? If you are talking about this: https://i.imgur.com/lwNEkeA.png it's already set and it is as like that for many years.
Ok, thanks.
Welcome :)
Is this still a problem with 5.27? And if so, please attach ~/.config/powerdevilrc and ~/.config/powermanagementprofilesrc and when it happens please also check journalctl for relevant snippets of output that might shed some light on this.
