Description ariasuni 2022-11-06 23:03:34 UTC
SUMMARY
It would nice to be able to filter fonts in the font selector. Currently, it’s hard to find a font, especially since the Noto Fonts, required by Plasma, add dozens of fonts in the selector. It seems it’s the same font selector in Konsole, for which it would be nice to have that as well.

Since one the main use case I can think of for this font selector is to switch to a newly installed font, it would be much more practical to be able to type the first few letters of a font to get it.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open font KCM
2. Open the font selector

OBSERVED RESULT
See hundred of Noto fonts and inability to filter fonts

EXPECTED RESULT
Being able to filter fonts, via a filter bar.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.2
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0
Qt Version: 5.15.7

The font selector dialog comes from Qt; you'll have to report this at https://bugreports.qt.io/. Thanks!

I created this ticket on Qt’s side: https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-109825
