SUMMARY I have a set of albums in my live system and the same set in my backup system. Both are in digiKam. In Date View I would like to see only items from the live system, not the duplicate from the backup system. Can I temporarily ignore the albums in the backup system? I would like to show all items from the live system in strict chronological order. Therefore separating by album is not usable.
No, that is not possible and it is also not possible to integrate it without further ado. Even collections that are not currently available are part of the database. Why should you include your backup in the image collections? I'm backing up my collections (using rsync) so the backup is done, why should it be part of the collection? Maik
Thanks for your quick reaction (as usual)! The phrase "backup" is not entirely correct. I have all my media files on a NAS and a subset I am working on (almost all video) on my desktop with smaller but fast SSD. When I work on a project in digiKam I only want to see the items that are on my desktop, not the ones on the NAS. But incidentily I need to find additional material that is on the NAS. Therefore both the albums on the desktop and on the NAS are in digiKam. I have now solved it by giving all items on the desktop a colour label and filtering on that. Regards, Jan
I have the same request. Reason is that I have an external drive for backup (for that reason not constantly connected to the pc) and when I travel (for that reason collection present in digiKam), but when I'm home I use the collection from the NAS to browse through the photo's. I also use the Date feature in order to see the photo's from different cameras in chronological order. Unfortunately, I cannot filter the pictures according to collection or source. That results in photos appearing double. Could I please ask that such an option to filter according to source could be added in one of the next releases? That would make this very useful and powerful program so much more user friendly. Thank you so much
