SUMMARY I usually don't turn off the PC but only the monitor when I'm away from the desktop. When I return and turn on the monitor Dolphin sometimes crashes. The problem appeared with Plasma 5.26 and it doesn't exist in previous Plasma versions. Here's debug info: https://pastebin.com/Gj0kjXT3 https://pastebin.com/ygmAv2zv STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Turn off the monitor and wait a while. 2. Turn on the monitor 3. OBSERVED RESULT Dolphin crashes. EXPECTED RESULT I don't expect any crashes while I turn on my monitor. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.26 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.99.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6
Unfortunately the problem is still here in Plasma 5.26.1.
The problem is still here in Plasma 5.26.2.
I was out of home for a day but I didn't turn off my PC and left Dolphin opened. I just turned off the monitor. I entered my PC a couple of times remotely and not a single crash. It seems it crashes only when I turn on the monitor. Very weird problem indeed and very annoyng as well.
It sometimes crashes on resolution change. I'm using 1280x800. I started a game which changed my resolution to 2048x1080. On game exit Dolphin crashed. Again. It crashes more than 10 times a day, It's a disaster and yet nobody cares.
Unforunately Dolphin 22.08.3 doesn't solve the problem.
The problem is still here in Plasma 5.26.3.
I may be just realize what the problem is - a minute ago I turned on my monitor and this time Dolphin was half screen stretched. It tries to fit the screen but it fails and crashes. I think we have some problem with single monitor setup again. It should not matter for the DE if my monitor is turned on or off and every time I switch it on to try to fit the screen again and again.
I copied a large 70GB file which I pasted to one of my external disks, turned off my monitor and went to launch. When I returned and turned on my monitor, Dolphin crashed and the file copy dialog crashed too, so I have to copy and paste the file again. It's a waste of time with this nasty bug. Why nobody answers?
I think it's something like this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=456385
Guys, it crashes a lot and it's very annoyng. Can I get some attention please?
Updated to the latest NVIDIA beta Vulkan drivers to no avail, crashes as hell. The monitor is connected via DP.
Switched from DP to HDMI - two days not a single crash?
It continue to crash at resolution change sometimes when gaming and exit from the game and if the Dolphin is the next active window.
Plasma 5.26.4 - the bug is still here.
Plasma 5.27 - the bug is still here.
Plasma 5.27.4 - the bug is still here. In addition - it rearranged my whole desktop. I want to use DP, not HDMI. Please, fix this nasty bug.
