Description Per Funke 2022-10-15 10:22:23 UTC
Hi!
Wish no 1:
In the annotation window have the checked keywords shown, sorted, in a separate box so you can check that none is forgotten, without having to scroll up and down in the drop box with all 200+ keywords, when checking.

Wish no 2:
Possibility to browse images in "Annotation" mode so that each image is presented in it's respective annotation window.
(The usual left and right arrows, somewhere in the annotation window.)

Wish no 3:
I'd like to choose my own viewer (Nota bene: I still want the standard one left in place!) in a editable program setting and pls, move the link to it to a place simpler than "Invoke External Program"->"Current Item"->[my own viewer], preferably in the listing that starts with "Annotation Individual Items" [right click in image]. I could be called like "External Viewer, Current Item" or smthg.

This is a useful program and of high quality. Especially appreciated is that when reinstalling the OS, KphotoAlbum checks for an existing database, not creating a new one!
Whew!! :0))

Best wishes,
Per Funke

Hi Per!

Thanks for your request.

#1 is already implemented I think, you simply have to check the funnel button at the bottom. This way, only the selected tags are displayed.

#2 is also already implemented if I get this correctly: Simply use the PgUp and PgDown buttons to browse through the images to be annotated, or use the existing "prev image" and "next image" buttons (or do you mean somethng else?).

About #3, I think that this not that meaningful, as an external viewer won't show the meta info. What about a setting for an external vierwer which can be accessed easier, e.g. via a keyboard shortcut? Like some menu entry "Open with external viewer" that has a configurable shortcut? Would this fit your needs?

Johannes, what do you think?

about #3
Yes, of course. Please note I explicitly say I'll* still need the internal
viewer* so I can check the meta info. Just for your convenience :). Well,
"also".

Thank you for your super quick answer. Evidently I've missed already
existing features #1 & #2, though I'm not sure about how I find them.
I've thousands of images, anything making things go with a better flow is
on my agenda.
Thank you!!

aha!
PgUp and PgDown buttons are the ones w/o any caption or image on them!
The third one also missing any indication to what it does is "Toggle Full
screen Preview".
The other ones have indicators on them. My environment if it gives you any
associations to why.:

Aha again!
Got #1also.
it also have no indication to what it's for.Tthe "hover over to get a tip"
is a bit random, one has to fly over other things to get it working,
Still I should really have tried it but it's non committal look evidently
made me negative to it...
Yes, and "Sort Alphabetically" also have no indication but since that one
hurt unacceptably much I seem to have solved it myself.
Unsorted, this box was a real disaster :0))
You're teaching me good manners, for sure. I should have checked these
before whining but I'm laser focused on getting things done here and well...

If you reply via email, please don't cite all the old stuff – this spams the online bugzilla view ;-)

Maybe you should install the Breeze icon theme. It's used all over KPA (and most other KDE apps) …

Hi!

If I read the replies on this bug report correctly, it seems that you got everything sorted out, right? Therefore I'm closing the bug report.
Please reopen the bug report if I missed something...

Cheers,
  Johannes

"existing "prev image" and "next image" buttons" are still dead although I
installed the recommended Breeze style (there were minor advantages but
still dead buttons) but I work around this.

"What about a setting for an external viewer which can be
accessed easier, e.g. via a keyboard shortcut"
This would be *good*, I use it to adjust images, color, light etc.

Summary: I can live with the current problems, Thanks for asking!
I like your willingness to communicate, that helps too!!
Also it would be nice if Ubuntu would make the latest KPA available in
their repository
but I guess, since I use a LTS version, this will have to be upgraded
first. Sigh!

wish you the best!

These two buttons use the icons "arrow-left" and "arrow-right". If you have
installed the program kiconfinder (part of the KIconThemes KF5 framework), you
can search for it like this:

$ kiconfinder5 arrow-left
/usr/share/icons/breeze/actions/32/arrow-left.svg

The icon is part of "breeze-icon-theme" on Debian. If you already installed
the breeze icon theme, it might be worth opening a bug report against the
Ubuntu package breeze-icon-theme for the missing icons.

I've added a whishlist bug to track this: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?
id=468134 (I think it's a good change but I can't say when I'll get around to
implementing it).

Thanks ;-) You're welcome!
