SUMMARY Since a few weeks, KDE Neon doesn't boot from the boot disk where the operating system is installed. Instead, it keeps booting in a loop and displaying the message "reset system" in the upper left corner of the screen. After accessing the boot menu, I noticed that the system tries to boot from a USB drive as first priority even though there is none. I then try to change the first priority to my NVME drive with KDE Neon installed, save the changes and boot. This way I boot KDE Neon without problems, but every time I shut down my laptop, I have to repeat the same process. As a side note, every time I follow these steps and once in KDE Neon, Discover suggests I install "UEFI dbx" to version 217. Also add that I have no dual boot set up and only use KDE Neon as my primary OS. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start the computer. 2. After several seconds of booting in a loop, access the boot menu. 3. Once in the menu, change to "NVME: ubuntu" as the first boot priority instead of "USB Key". 4. Save the changes and boot. 5. Once in KDE Neon, shut down the computer. OBSERVED RESULT The computer takes a few seconds to boot up and the boot loop repeats again, trying to detect KDE Neon on a USB key. EXPECTED RESULT Boot KDE Neon from the hard drive or NVME drive. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: KDE Neon 5.26 (User Edtion) KDE Plasma Version: 5.26.0 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Every time I manage to boot KDE Neon, Discover asks me to update UEFI dbx to version 217. Once updated, I turn off the computer and the problem with booting persists, asking again to update UEFI dbx.
Thank you for your bug report! However this bug report was created/provided previous to 01/01/2023 and also has not received any updates since before 01/01/2025. Unfortunately KDE neon no longer provides updates for anything older than noble 24.04 based edition's. Please upgrade to KDE neon noble and if you can reproduce the issue after upgrading to an active version, feel free to re-open this bug report. Thanks for understanding!
