Fountain is a Markdown dialect for writing screenplays. Adding support in any shape or form can help massively for screenwriting on Linux.

Minimal support would be being able to open and safe .fountain files with no issue. Basic support would mean some highlighting. Good support would recognize headers and scenes distinctively and render a preview. Amazing support would include exports to PDF, settings for this, navigation and suggestive margins in the editor.

I second this feature request. We lack a good screenwriting software for linux. Trelby has been discontinued for years!

Thirded! Giving ghostwriter script-writing capabilities would be amazing.

I'm afraid Fountain support is out of scope. While perhaps supporting syntax highlighting might be "easy", other features that are expected from a screenwriting software (such as tracking items needed across scenes) will inevitably be requested. This is a can of worms I don't want to open.

I, for one, don't want any of that crap. When I write, I write, and only want to write. That other stuff I can deal with later, if at all. I think it would be a plus (at least it would be a plus for me) if ghostwriter _ONLY_ implemented the markup, took the non-distraction credo to its ultimate consequences, and deliberately refused to implement any of the dingle-dongles that make using other script-writing software so annoying.
