SUMMARY Glitches when playing YouTube videos: long video loading or not loading at all, playing without sound, audio “interruptions” during playback. Problem solved by removing PulseAudio Volume Control from the system. BTW this problem happened after some time while using default Nouveau driver for NVIDIA graphics card. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Fresh Kubuntu 22.10 install. 2. NVIDIA 515 driver install. 3. snapd removed 4. Firefox ESR installed. OBSERVED RESULT I am not sure that everyone can reproduce it immediately. EXPECTED RESULT Install Kubuntu and have fun... I don't understand why PulseAudio Volume Control is installed as separate application at all, because we have Audio in System Settings. What the point? SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Kubuntu 22.10 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.98.0 Qt Version: 5.15.6 Kernel Version: 5.19.0-15-generic (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11
> Problem solved by removing PulseAudio Volume Control from the system. This isn't a KDE app; if removing it fixes the problem, then that would suggest the issue is either somewhere in that app, or within PulseAudio itself. > I don't understand why PulseAudio Volume Control is installed as separate application at all, > because we have Audio in System Settings. What the point? A good question for the Kubuntu packagers. They're the ones who decide what to install by default.
