I run KStars 3.5.9 fine on my Macbook pro (end 2011) ruling MacOS 10.15.7. (What a great astro software ! It does everything and more !)
But when I install and try to run the KStars 3.6.0 version, it won't launch at all. Nothing displays, i've to "force quit" KStars.

IMPORTANT NOTE : My Macbook 8.3 end 2011, IS NOT supposed to run Catalina Mac OS. I've patched it, to force OS Upgrade. This may explain why I'm unable to launch 3.6.0.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Download KStars 3.6.0 dmg. 
2. Install and drag in application folder.
3. Launch KStars app.

OBSERVED RESULT
KStars don't show and has to be "force to quit"

EXPECTED RESULT
Well, run and use KStars...

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Please try with KStars 3.6.4 and report back.
