SUMMARY This is not necessary new bug, but I notice it again while trying the beta. When using the keyboard to open the kickoff (with meta key) and find applications (by writing their name), the first entry from the results should be selected despite the mouse position. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Put the mouse pointer on the region where kickoff will open 2. Press meta to open kickoff 3. Search for some app (for example, Firefox) OBSERVED RESULT The selected entry is not the first app (which is Firefox), but the element on top of the mouse. EXPECTED RESULT If mouse is not moved, selected entry should not be changed based on the mouse position. The first entry from the results should be selected. Only if the mouse is moved, entry can be changed. This will benefit people working with keyboard only, while not disturbing mouse people. This was supposed to be fixed already; see Bug 455674. And I can't reproduce the issue anymore myself. When I put the cursor in a place where kickoff will open, then open it with the Meta key, then search, the item under the cursor does not immediately become selected. I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of Bug 455674, and let's continue to discuss it there. I'm not ready to re-open it yet until we get more reports because this really really really should be fixed, based on my current understanding of the code and inability to reproduce it myself anymore following the fix. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 455674 ***
