SUMMARY For better or for worse, KDE's bug reporting process could probably be made more accessible for new users. For first time reporters, clicking "File a Bug" and having hundreds of things immediately dumped on you is rather discouraging. I think at bare minimum, a few things like the "Kde" category to report bugs when you are not sure where to put them could be pinned to the top of the list. Some potential improvements in reducing seek time: Alphabetical indexing to skip ahead Folding large categories into trees. For example, "Apps" or "Frameworks" In a very ideal world, we would have pictures , at least for the apps or big categories STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Try to file a bug 2. Click "File a Bug" OBSERVED RESULT Get lost trying to search for which jargon could possibly be related to what you saw. EXPECTED RESULT Get a little lost, but get closer to the right thing and be able to somewhat verify whether the place you're reporting your bug to is what you think it is. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Ultimately, there are many limitations to this and even if it were to be successfully implemented, there would probably be a greater cost of lower quality bug reports to sort through.
