SUMMARY *** Downloading .exe programs and attempting to utilize WINE, WINEGLASS, Q4WINE, WINE TRICKS - any available program available through Fedora available software to install Windows programs without any success. Because the " system" will NOT accept executable (.exe) files due to 'safety concerns'! I have attempted to locate a bypass or override for this and can't find it ANYWHERE! :-( (bug 433148 addresses similar problem, For security reasons, launching executables is not allowed in this context, EXCEPT for programs 'already' installed.) *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. https://www.downloads.cnet.com - select Driver Booster (IOBIT DRIVER BOOSTER -FREE-) download 2. On KDE Plasma, access Wine to download 3. OBSERVED RESULT error message received - For security reasons, launching executables is not allowed in this context. EXPECTED RESULT Program loaded OR method by which I can change system to accept .exe files. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Fedora Linux 36 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 Kernal Version: 5.19.8-200.FC36.x86_64(64-bit) ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I am NOT a programmer and know NOTHING about the KDE system except that it's a clone/work around browser similar to Windows without the problems Windows has. However, for all of the quirks Windows has ... I wonder IF KDE Plasma/Linux was the right choice? (previous Linux/Cinnamon user & hated it)
How exactly are you trying to launch them? Clicking from the Plasma Desktop? Clickin from a Dolphin window? Right-click > open from somewhere?
Drop It! I'm tired of attempting to deal with Linux and KDE Plasma systems to attempt to perform SIMPLE transactions - downloading Windows-similar programs (games or utilities) and getting the 'system' to DO what it's claim to be able to do! I'M GOING BACK TO WINDOWS 10!
Ok, sorry you had a bad experience. FWIW I suspect this is already fixed by a change I made for Plasma 5.26, but without the information I asked for, there's no way to be sure.
