Created attachment 151999 [details] error dialog SUMMARY *** I have mangaed to start a project, include clips, insert audio tracks and export a movie. I can also create a subtitle track and put subtitles in it. However, when I close kdenlive, restart it and reopen the project the subtitles are gone. When I try to export the subtitles through /projects/subtitles/export subtitle file I do get a dialog to save a file. It defaults to a location /run/user/1000/doc/559365a/. I can change the location to point to my home directory and put a filename like ttt.srt but the path seems not to change upon saving. I get a prompt stating Cannot write to file /run/user/1000/doc/559365a/ttt.srt Appears to me as perhaps an ubuntu/linux specific bug? Please correct because losing the subtitles and not being able to export them makes the whole subtitle package rather useless... Otherwise, I'm very happy with kdenlive *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. 2. 3. OBSERVED RESULT error prompt EXPECTED RESULT saved subtitles / not loosing subtitle track upon closing and reopening SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/Ubuntu 20.04.5 LTS ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Thanks for reporting a bug in Kdenlive. Can you tell us how you installed Kdenlive? Was it downloaded from kdenlive.org, and what type of package it was (AppImage, Flatpak) or whether it was installed through apt using the PPA?
Dear Eric, I used the regular Ubuntu software app available from the favorites bar. I don’t know which installation method the ubuntu software center actually uses, but i guess APT. Its version is 3.38.1. I use a more or less vanilla ubuntu install, haven’t made modification to paths or anything. Hope there is a quick fix for this … Kind regards, Ronald > On 12 Sep 2022, at 19:31, Eric Jiang <bugzilla_noreply@kde.org> wrote: > > https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=459017 > > Eric Jiang <erjiang@alumni.iu.edu> changed: > > What |Removed |Added > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- > CC| |erjiang@alumni.iu.edu > > --- Comment #1 from Eric Jiang <erjiang@alumni.iu.edu> --- > Thanks for reporting a bug in Kdenlive. It looks like you are using the Snap distribution of Kdenlive, which runs Kdenlive in a sandbox and could cause issues like what you are running into. However, I was not able to reproduce this issue with the 22.08.3 Snap package. Could you try either of these potential solutions? 1. Upgrade your version of Kdenlive through the same Ubuntu software app to 22.08.3. (If this does not work, please attach a screenshot of what your file save dialog looks like before you save the file.) 2. OR, download and run the AppImage version of Kdenlive from kdenlive.org
