Sidebar with persistent display

When disabling Kate's left sidebar shortcuts, they reappear when restarting the system.

The icons for these shortcuts are huge in this release!

Not sure I understand what you mean.

Can you please explain what's the problem? And what do you expect?

I don't like and don't use Kate's giant sidebar icons.
I disable them by going to Settings => Configure Kate => Plugins and uncheck the following options:

LSP client
Document tree
File system browser
Project plugin

But just restart the system and all these icons are displayed again!

I would like these to remain disabled.

Well, I'm also a little confused what you mean...

...because of this. The icon size can be set in config too. But the next issue...

...is more serious. I guess you work with the default session, no special one? Try to save explizite after your changes (plugin disabled) as default session.

Yeah.

Old icon sizes

These are what the old sidebar icons looked like, with text and matched system font size
Comment 6 Daniel Petrov 2022-10-23 15:22:12 UTC
The sidebar width appears to be exactly 2x the size of the previous version.

Hi,

There is a setting to specify the size of the icon or even go back to having vertical text:

Settings -> Configure Kate.. -> Behavior -> Sidebars -> Icon size.... & Show text for...

If you do not want the plugins at all , I guess KWrite is the right tool for you..... But if you do want some plugins, you can save the session and then open that session. The unnamed session enables these plugins...

Hmm I just saved a session with the name "Default" and that actually stores the plugin settings.

Hope this helps,
  Kåre
