SUMMARY *** After installing Gwenview thru snap (not apt) I cannot view images outside ~. *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1a. double-click on an image outside /home/john OR 1b. in Gwenview, navigate to /media OBSERVED RESULT 1a. : Window popup Error - Gwenview with message "Could not enter folder /media/john/data/foto.". In the background in Gwenview: Loading '896796.jpg' failed (in a red rectangle with a red outline) 1b.: Window popup Error - Gwenview with message "Could not enter folder /media." In the background Gwenview is white, no message. EXPECTED RESULT The image is shown SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: macOS: Linux/KDE Plasma: Ubuntu 22.04 (with kernel 5.13.0.52) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: - KDE Frameworks Version: - Qt Version: - Gnome: 3.36.8 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION When using apt to install Gwenview, it worked like expected. But I can't do that anymore because of unmet dependencies.
This is a snap packaging issue. It limits the locations that an app has access to.
