SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Connect a KDE laptop to a docking station, close the LID and lock the screen. 2. Unplug the docking station 3. Open the LID OBSERVED RESULT There is no greeter to unlock the screen The only way I found to get the greeter is to connect back to the docking station. EXPECTED RESULT There should be a greeter to unlock the screen. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Debian 12 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97.0 Qt Version: 5.15.4
I forgot to say that this is with X11.
Just to add that this problem does not always happen, it is not 100% reproducible. I would say something like 50% on average. It is not clear to me in which circumstances it happens.
When you say "there is no greeter", is the screen blank?" Or do you see the blurred wallpaper, but with no unlocking UI? Or something else? Can you attach a photograph of what it looks like when it's in this state? Thanks!
Hi Nate, from what I remember, there was the wallpaper but no UI to unlock. I will try to reproduce and post a picture next time I go to my office. Nowadays I am on Wayland and I do not see this problem anymore.
In that case the bug was in KScreenLocker, not KScreen. Moving it there.

So I tried today to reproduce this bug, but it did not show up. I am on Wayland nowadays, so this bug does not affect me anymore.
OK cool, thanks!
