SUMMARY When using the automatic color picker for accent colors, it defaults to grey 90% of the time STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Select automatic accent color in settings 2. repeatedly change wallpaper 3. OBSERVED RESULT Grey is almost always selected as the accent color EXPECTED RESULT Accent color should vary as much as possible SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Fedora Linux 35 KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0 Qt Version: 5.15.2 Kernel Version: 5.19.4-100.fc35.x86_64 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-8550U CPU @ 1.80GHz Memory: 15.4 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: Mesa Intel® UHD Graphics 620 Manufacturer: Dell Inc. Product Name: Inspiron 5570 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Notice that, by eye, it is even possible that grey is present in the image when it's selected - it does not seem 100% wrong. Nonetheless, on a folder of 20 images I have only 3 that produce a different result. Same thing happens with daily wallpapers.
This should be addressed by the change we recently made for Plasma 5.26 to prefer the image's highlight color over its dominant color--which indeed tended towards gray. This was one of the issues we were trying to fix.
