SUMMARY Under X11 the most convenient way for me to move a window between virtual desktops is to start dragging it and then switch to the desired desktop with super+tab. After switching to Wayland this flow doesn't work anymore. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Start dragging a window 2. Press super+tab OBSERVED RESULT Nothing happens EXPECTED RESULT The current virtual desktop is switched and the window is moved into it while doing so. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Operating System: Manjaro Linux KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.6 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Meta+Tab doesn't switch between virtual desktops, it switches between activities. Switching between virtual desktops with a keyboard shortcut while dragging a window works correctly afaict
I don't know what's an "activity". When I press super+tab, I get switched between "desktop 1" and "desktop 2". In "system settings -> shortcuts -> KWin" it says "Switch to Next Desktop: Meta + Tab", but it has a yellow dot, so it may not be a standard shortcut, sorry about the confusion. I've also found there shortcuts for switching to a specific desktop number (Ctrl + F1-4). These shortcuts work well and they too stop working when I'm dragging a window.
Yes, the shortcut is indeed not set that way by default. Anyways, what you're describing has been fixed in 5.25 with https://invent.kde.org/plasma/kwin/-/commit/79dfb1ff610fd3bedc67e71c87110cbb35aa7c68. As Manjaro is still on 5.24, you'll have to either wait for them to update or switch to the unstable branch.
Awesome! Thank you for looking into it!
