STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Open jpg image in Krita
2. Filter -> Start G'MIC-Qt -> Extract Foreground (Interactive)
3. Click OK button

OBSERVED RESULT

To date, the G'MIC component has never included GUI support for macOS. Please report this bug to https://github.com/GreycLab/gmic.

G'MIC display on Mac can be only achieved by using the X11 library, which is not installed by default on Mac.
I'm not that surprised that the plug-in compiled on Mac does not allow filters that require interactive display windows.
It is the responsibility of whoever compiles the plug-in on the Mac to enable or disable X11 display support.

I don't even remotely touch XQuartz, so it means someone has to implement a Cocoa event loop for CImg, right?
