SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE The cursor is not visible when moving the cursor. OBSERVED RESULT Cursor temporarily disappears. The blinking cursor alternates between showing and not showing the cursor, but the blinking starts from the invisible side. EXPECTED RESULT Show cursor when moving cursor SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.19.2-1 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97 Qt Version: 5.15.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I tried to solve this by changing the value of CursorBlinkRate in the ~/.config/kdeglobals file so that it would not blink. However, a new problem arose. Half-width input was fine, but after I typed Japanese using fcitx5-mozc, the cursor disappeared. When I change the window or virtual desktop, the cursor becomes visible again. The same problem appears again and again when I type in Japanese.
Help to improve this would be welcome. I think ATM not many Kate developers use complex input methods.
Can you provide detailed information on how to reproduce this? Without access to the text of the target language or the steps to reproduce, it will be hard/impossible to fix this.

(In reply to Waqar Ahmed from comment #2) > Can you provide detailed information on how to reproduce this? > > Without access to the text of the target language or the steps to reproduce, > it will be hard/impossible to fix this. I attached reproduction video. Please confirm this.
The video is fine, I can see the issue. But I do not know how you are typing those characters? If I type aaaa blah blah, the cursor remains visible. So this has to do something with the input method you are using or something else. So please share all the info that can help in reproducing this issue so that I can trigger this behavior locally.
IME I use is fcitx5-mozc. fcitx5 is Input method, and mozc is module of Japanese input method. I use KDE Plasma on Manjaro Linux based on Arch Linux. This issue happens with Kate only in my environment. This does not seem to happen with other KDE software. if you want more info, please comment what info should I provide.

I have the same issue. The cursor disappears while it is moving. See gif. Fresh Debian 12/KDE install. Locale is German, with fcitx5. It happens on X11 and Wayland. It happens in 1080p and 1440p. It happens with 100% and 125% scaling. It happens while entering text (i.e. pressing 'a') and while moving the cursor in the text. In my gif I just press the left cursor key. Kate Version is 22.12.3. KDE Plasma 5.27.5 KDE Frameworks 5.103.0 Qt 5.15.8

Can you re-try if that happens with a 24.xx version? I can not reproduce this.
