SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** selection jumps from star in align module. Latest release of kstars/ekos/indi as of the 19/08/22 on astroberry 2.0.4 STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Use polar align module 2. Let it slew and capture 3. On the final capture it will ask you to zoom in and select a bright star 4. Click on a bright star OBSERVED RESULT The image seems to jump and you no longer have the star selected EXPECTED RESULT Should stay on star. Star then gets a circle drawn around it when you start refreshing. What OS does this happen on? What version of KStars? Thanks.

Yes that’s right. The 4gb version I’m using VNC Viewer from an ipad to control it.
Created attachment 151457 [details] screenshot of it working fine on my system. Works fine on my 64-bit Ubuntu on Intel mini-pc
@jasem I cannot reproduce. Of course, I'm not using the same software. I run a 64-bit Ubuntu 20.04 on an intel mini-pc (NUC). I'm not running Stellarmate OS. Perhaps you folks can try it out on an RPi4 with 32-bit OK and look further. Passing back to you.
This is on Astroberry, not StellarMate. At any rate, maybe it's just a VNC issue? Have you tried RealVNC? or directly via monitor+mouse+keyboard ?
VNCViewer is the ipad app provided by RealVNC. App last updated 9 months ago so the client side hasn’t changed. I’m able to point the ‘mouse’ at all the other things such as buttons in kstars without problem. The only place I’m experiencing a problem is in selecting the star in the final stages of polar alignment. This has been working fine for some months and it’s only stopped working within the last few days. I’m one of those people who update very regularly even if everything is working fine (a habit I really should get out of :) )
Can you provide a link to a video showing the issue?
Clear night last night so got to give things a whirl. “Unfortunately” everything seemed to work fine. Not sure what’s different as I’ve not updated since I had the problem. All I can think is it was some form of user error or some oddity in the way things were working that night. I will watch out for it happening but this may as well be closed for now. thanks Nigel
hmm, actually occurred again last night. It’s not every time and it’s not obvious what’s different between when it happens and when it doesn’t. The align module seems to have become rather flaky with the last set of updates. The image doesn’t appear to refresh consistently either when doing the initial 3 solves nor when refreshing as I try moving the mount - I quite often end up with the image frozen even though everything else seems to be working. I don’t get circle drawn around the star I’m supposed to be moving to the target. Yesterday I got a large green circle drawn for some reason. I’ve had what looked to be a pop up box for doing a manual rotate pop up midway while it doing its 30 degree rotates. The green and yellow lines along which I’m supposed to move the star don’t seem to match in angle with what happens when I alter my altitude or azimuth which I think it used to do reasonably well. Last two nights I’ve wasted quite a bit of time trying and retrying to polar align when before it seemed quite straightforward.
