Description Evert Vorster 2022-08-19 05:34:07 UTC
SUMMARY
***
When computer enters powersave, the open program windows move between monitors.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Have an external monitor connected to a laptop.
2. Have multiple windows open.
3. Leave the computer alone so it enters powersave.
4. Move mouse after powersave has kicked in

OBSERVED RESULT
All windows have moved to one monitor... in this case, the laptop monitor.

EXPECTED RESULT
Windows to stay where they have been left.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux
(available in About System)
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.97.0
Qt Version: 5.15.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
I suspect that this bug is due to the monitors entering powersave in different ways. The HDMI output does not support dimming in the same way that the internal laptop panel does.

When the monitors turn off at different times, this is detected and the windows moved.

One easy fix for this would be to disable monitor change detection while powersave is active.
