You need to get yourself a better icon set.

Thanks for the tip, Albert. Could you give me some help about how to solve the issues with my icons set?

I am not currently using KDE. It is GNOME. After your answer, I installed the packages breeze-gtk-theme and breeze-icon-theme. The issue with some other icons was solved, but the squiggle keeps looking the same as underline (screenshot attached).

You need to use an icon set tthat provides the format-text-underline-squiggle icon
