SUMMARY
If NeoChat has been started with "compact mode", toggling to bubbles/transparency, will leave the transparency broken until NC is restarted or the window is closed+reopened.


STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Make sure that the active setting is "compact mode"
2. Start NeoChat
3. Open Settings, switch to "Bubbles" and move transparency all the way up to 100%

OBSERVED RESULT
A pure black background will be seen for chats

EXPECTED RESULT
Chat background should be transparent.

EDIT: it's not about starting in compact mode, it's about starting with it disabled (which compact mode also does).

Can confirm it's just due to starting with transparency disabled

I did some debugging on this the other day and i suspect it's a kwin bug actually
