Use "Not marked" and get what you want. This feature is available at least since 2009.
I'm confused. It sounds like the OP wants to see ALL transactions, and has selected "Any status" but is only seeing unmarked transactions. Alan: First - please clarify the "Observed result" and "Expected result" values from the original post, as they don't match what else you wrote. Also, what do you see if you try the other values of that dropdown?
It doesn't matter what I select - and, yes, I've tried all the options - including 'Not marked' and none of them show Cleared or Reconciled transactions. It used to be that the default option 'Any status' listed all transactions, open, cleared, reconciled but that's not happening now.
Just to be compulsive, please confirm that the "OBSERVED RESULT" and "EXPECTED RESULT" in the original post were switched. I think that may have been what Thomas was responding to. Also, if you select "Cleared" does it still only show the unmarked transactions? One other strange thought - are you absolutely certain that you have any marked transactions? (either cleared or reconciled?) If you have the dropdown set to show all, and you change a transaction from unmarked to cleared, does it disappear from the ledger display?

This sounds really weird. I am really interested in your answer to Jack's question "If you have the dropdown set to show all, and you change a transaction from unmarked to cleared, does it disappear from the ledger display?" Two more thoughts: do you have a filter setup to suppress display of transactions before a certain date? What is the setting of the "Do not show reconciled transactions?" option?

OK - found the cause. In Settings | Configure KMymoney | General | Filter - The option 'Do not show reconciled transactions' was set. I don't remember accessing this, but maybe I accidentally triggered it while looking for something else, frankly I didn't even realise this option existed until just now. I'll flag this as resolved and my apologies for wasting your time.
