SUMMARY

Gwenview shows previews of PDFs, however, when using a dark theme, like Breeze dark, the previews become unusable, since Gwenview renders the PDF's background, which is typically white, simply black, but doesn't change the font color or invert the PDF's color.
This renders the preview of PDFs in Gwenview pretty useless, when using a dark theme.

To specify: This issue only arises for me when opening a LaTeX compiled pdf. Those have a transparent background for some reason.

Note that you can set the background for transparent images using Configure Gwenview -> Image View -> Show transparency with: Solid colour background -> White. Or whatever colour you want.

Why do you think this is a bug in pdflatex ? Is it really transparent or is it a bug in the pdf parser of Gwenview? Why do Dolphin and Okular and other application render LaTeX PDFs just fine?

I don't think it is a bug in pdflatex. But I noticed that only those seem to be equipped with a background that get's rendered transparent in Gwenview.

How would one find out?
> Why do Dolphin and Okular and other application render LaTeX PDFs just fine?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I see how I might have been a bit too hasty to close.

Talking to the maintainers or by looking at the code :) just got no time to do that myself.
