Description yamiyukisenpai 2022-07-27 01:16:00 UTC
SUMMARY
Widget picker doesn't open.
Krunner appears frozen as nothing appears after the first letter, but it does register my keystrokes.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
Widget picker:
1. Right click on the taskbar or the desktop
2. Select "Add Widgets"

KRunner:
1. Alt+Space
2. Type "Settings"
3. Hit Enter

OBSERVED RESULT
Widget picker doesn't appear
Krunner - I only see "s", but when I pressed enter, it opened NVIDIA settings

EXPECTED RESULT
I should be able to access widget picker, and see KRunner.

These are two different issues. The widget picker not opening is most likely Bug 439159, so let's discuss the KRunner screen-not-updating issue here. It sounds like a bug in the graphics drivers to me.

Probably, I updated to version 515 from the Ubuntu repo, and it still happens.

Same here for krunner freezing.

If I type fast enough I can get a few letters in but as soon as some results are supposed to appear it freeze.

If I type random stuff really fast so that I'm sure I'll have no results then it does not freeze until I delete some letters to something that will actually match something.

Seems like a duplicate of 454671. I'm new here so I'll leave someone else the privilege of marking it as duplicate if they think it's necessary.

Anyway I can do to work around that?

I also edited this bug report to mention that Kickoff doesn't appear frequently.

I sometimes have to hit the Meta key repeatedly for it to show.
