Description guto 2022-07-23 20:01:22 UTC
SUMMARY
***
I use Latte panels in both monitors of my Manjaro installation. Since some updates, Latte panel transparency is not working as intended anymore. I want the panels to be transparent and become opaque when a window touches them. I select all four options in the bottom of "Appearance" and even so the panel doesn't get transparent straightforward. Only if I change its position (say from the top to the bottom), it becomes transparent and behaves as expected (opaque when a window touches it). However, when I log out and in again, good behaviour is gone. Sometimes one or both of the panels maintain transparency, but this is rare (and as far as I can notice, random). The standard behaviour is logging in opaque.

I use a laptop in a docking station connected to two monitors.

It used to work just fine before. Now it behaves consistently this way even if new users are created and a new Latte configuration is made from scratch.

Now I've just formatted another laptop which is connected to a second monitor, installed Manjaro and Latte Dock, and I have the same problematic behaviour in this laptop as well.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create new user (no folder in “home” before)
2. Create panels from scratch with 100% background
3. Select all options for transparency w/ minimised windows (4 options in the bottom of "Appearance")
4. Panels don’t become transparent
5. Change their position (e.g., from top to bottom)
6. Panels become transparent. If a window touches them, they become opaque
7. Change their position back (to the top)
8. Panels remain transparent. If a window touches them, they become opaque
9. Log out
10. Log in
11. Panels are not transparent anymore (most of the times)
12. Repeat 5 to 12

OBSERVED RESULT
Panel is not transparent most of the times after logging in.

EXPECTED RESULT
After logging in, panel should be transparent when no window is touching it and only become opaque when a window touches it.
