SUMMARY *** The taskmanager applet in the plasma-desktop tarball is broke in 5.25.x series specifically the icons-only taskmanager. Launch an App and nothing appears on the taskbar. Tested on the latest Neon ISO. I backed downed the taskmanager applet from the 5.24.5 version to fix in PCLinuxOS. It appears someone did a complete rewrite of this applet and jacked it up in the plasma-desktop tarball. This is probably a duplicate report. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Set taskmanager to icons-only 2. Launch an app 3. Observe nothing on the taskbar OBSERVED RESULT Nothing appears on the taskbar after launching an application EXPECTED RESULT Expected to see an Icon on the taskbar of the launched application
I understand that this must be a very frustrating issue, but let's try to avoid being insulting. See https://community.kde.org/Get_Involved/Issue_Reporting#Remember_your_manners Some questions: 1. Does the app actually launch correctly, but it just doesn't appear on the Task Manager? Or does it fail to launch entirely? 2. Is this happening on X11 or Wayland? 3. What are you launching the app from that reproduces this issue? Kickoff/Kicker? KRunner? A global shortcut? A pinned Task Manager item? All of them?
I did not mean to be insulting. I was just being a silly goose so don't take it as such. Thanks. The applications launch correctly from the application menu launcher but nothing appears on the taskbar. This is in an X11 session. Do you not see the same thing?
I don't see the issue myself in either the X11 session or the Wayland session. Is it possible that "Show only tasks: that are minimized" cot checked by accident in the settings window?
I just figured out what was going on. Everything is fine. I had changed the main.xml in my spec file and failed to update for the 5.25.x series. I will mark this as not a bug and check myself into the loony bin for further evaluation. :P
Glad you figured it out!
