Lowering priority as this affects only non-default setups with a very particular combination of settings.
I have this problem too on two computers, both nVidia-based, having this config: Operating System: MocaccinoOS KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.5 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 Kernel Version: 5.15.72-mocaccino (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz Memory: 61.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: ASUS My assessment: the panels remain painted over, although they are actually hidden. The main issue is that they are painted over anything. For instance, if a word processor is "under", as those panels stay in front, but clicking on them would actually click on the word processor application area. This is very misleading for an user.
Other issues: stuttering during watching video files, tooltips heavy flickering, desktop widgets freeze, partially transparent Application Menu/Application Launcher. What means "non-default setups with a very particular combination of settings"?
Hi, after using it a while and being hardly usable, I need to know: what is considered "non-default setups with a very particular combination of settings" and what is the default with a general combination of settings? Also, where is this specified?
Tried my Intel GPU too (nVidia removed, card and drivers, kernel rebuilt), same behavior. So it's not nVidia.
(In reply to Mihai Sorin Dobrescu from comment #5) > Other issues: stuttering during watching video files, tooltips heavy > flickering, desktop widgets freeze, partially transparent Application > Menu/Application Launcher. > What means "non-default setups with a very particular combination of > settings"? All the above do not appear anymore in 5.26.5 on my Gentoo based machine.
The menu issue still happening on 5.26.5 on my Gentoo based machine.
The issue appears on : Operating System: MocaccinoOS (Gentoo-based) KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.104.0 Qt Version: 5.15.9 Kernel Version: 6.1.23-mocaccino (64-bit) Graphics Platform: X11 Processors: 16 × 11th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-11700K @ 3.60GHz Memory: 61.6 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB/PCIe/SSE2 Manufacturer: ASUS

I have upgraded to Plasma 6, for me this is not relevant anymore. As an observation, this bug is solved on Plasma 6 with X11.
That's very interesting! Thanks for following up.
@Mihai Sorin Dobrescu: Uhm - is there actually even the "Keep Window Thumbnails = Always" option in Plasma 6? I just wanted to re-enable it after your message, and actually could not find it...
