Use the appimage instead. This is a distribution problem.

Because new Krita doesn't have: Go to Settings ‣ Configure Krita… ‣ G’Mic plugin and set G’MIC to the filepath there.
You should * not use the distribution package, but use the official appimage from krita.org/download * file a bug in Ubuntu's bug tracker Note that for user support it's much better to go to krita-artists.org instead of asking for help in a bug tracker, which is meant for reports about issues in krita's code. Then more people than just the developers will see your question and be able to answer it.
