Created attachment 150516 [details] UI elements get blurred SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** Whenever I use KDE for an extensive time, it sometimes can happen that the UI glitches out and everything becomes blurry. In the attachment you can see the top bar (blue blur), the application launcher and latte dock. This can happen when the compositor is enabled or disabled. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Wait for it to happen. It often triggers for me when I press the meta key. OBSERVED RESULT UI elements get blurry and the PC is unusable. EXPECTED RESULT UI to work fine SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux with 5.18.10-xanmod1-1-haswell (64-bit) (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.2 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.95.0 Qt Version: 5.15.5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION EVGA GTX 960 SSC 4GB GPU running on latest proprietary nvidia drivers. This issue exists for me at least since KDE 5.21 and Linux kernel v5.12.
NVIDIA-related. Not sure if it's their fault or our fault.
(In reply to Nate Graham from comment #1) > NVIDIA-related. Not sure if it's their fault or our fault. I haven't seen this happen on Gnome for example, but I haven't run Gnome long enough to see it happen. I believe the best testing scenario would be to test it with another QT based DE, but it's a matter of time when it happens, it doesn't happen every day either, more like once a month.
I don't see this severe an issue, just with the bottom dock, when I have it set to appear/disappear on proximity of mouse, the entire lower section of the screen flickers with a translucent layer that sometimes disappears and sometimes persists. Not critical, just distracting. Nvidia 525.60.11, wayland. otherwise, loving kde as usual, wayland is snappy! thanks!
This is outdated and heavily driver dependent. Can you confirm if this is still can issue
(In reply to David Edmundson from comment #4) > This is outdated and heavily driver dependent. Can you confirm if this is > still can issue Unfortunately I can not test this anymore. I changed the gpu to an amd rx6600 and that has not given me any issues in plasma 5 nor 6.
OK great, let's call it fixed.
