Created attachment 150505 [details] In this clip you can see me right clicking and the menu doesn't open for a good 3 - 4 seconds after I click, and then after interacting with other applications it is reproducable again and again. SUMMARY *** NOTE: If you are reporting a crash, please try to attach a backtrace with debug symbols. See https://community.kde.org/Guidelines_and_HOWTOs/Debugging/How_to_create_useful_crash_reports *** STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Log into plasma_wayland_session 2. right click on the desktop 3. try opening an app then right clicking the desktop or opening the application launcher OBSERVED RESULT menus take 3 - 4 seconds to show up EXPECTED RESULT application menus should open immediately (and sometimes they do, it seems like randomly, this will start occurring in my wayland session and I have no way to fix it and have to revert back to an x session) SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Linux/KDE Plasma: Arch Linux - Base Arch installed from ISO running kernel 5.18.9 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.2 KDE Frameworks Version: Qt Version: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I run Arch Linux - I installed it manually following the guide. When I run an Xorg session, I never see these kind of performance issues. - occasionally this will start happening when I run a Wayland session, but not always. Sometimes I boot into Wayland and it's completely fine and runs faster than X, but inevitably, after using it for a few hours, this bug starts occurring and even a restart does not fix it. Eventually the bug will disappear and then show up a few days later. - my system is completely up to date - I am running AMD drivers - I tried using a login manager that runs on Wayland (gdm) and a login manager that runs on X (sddm) - I have reinstalled all my AMD drivers - Rebooted machine several times - Fully reinstalled Arch Linux, KDE plasma, and then the plasma-wayland-session package (plasma-wayland-session 5.25.2-1 is up to date -- reinstalling) See attached video of bug occurring.
I've found a workaround for this. While a restart of the PC doesn't fix it, running the command "plasmashell --replace" does. Hope this helps to anyone who finds this bug / is experiencing the same issues I am.
Sorry we were not able to get to this yet. Are you able to reproduce the issue in Plasma 6.1.4 or later? Thanks a lot for checking!
