Description Dave Morley 2022-07-01 18:04:44 UTC
SUMMARY
Brightness still dimming on initial power connection. However remains at the level set on subsequent lead plug ins.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Power on the laptop on battery
2. Plug in the power lead
3. Unplug the power lead
4. Plug in the power lead

OBSERVED RESULT
From a fresh boot the screen dims to minimum when plugged in
On subsequent lead plug ins the screen doesn't dim

EXPECTED RESULT
I expect the screen to remain at the correct brightness

Cannot reproduce on Wayland or X11.

Can you attach screenshots of your settings for the "On AC Power" and "On Battery" tabs?

Thanks.

Does the issue go away if you check the checkbox for "Screen brightness" on the "On AC Power" and "On Battery" tabs?
Comment 8 Dave Morley 2022-07-15 21:28:29 UTC
I'll give it a go when I am back home

Hi Nate

With the power options enabled for the screen brightness it still tries to dim but then comes back up to the correct brightness. There is a flash of the dimmed screen of about 1 second.
Comment 10 Nate Graham 2022-07-22 18:15:51 UTC
That seems relevant. Seems like there's some default action that's getting executed that shouldn't.
Comment 11 BOF 2022-08-19 18:44:37 UTC
I have the same issue: The screen brightness is dimmed when the power plug is put in for the first time.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
When I plug in the power cord on the lock screen the brightness is dimmed and I can not use the keyboard buttons to brighten the screen up. This makes using the laptop in a bright room practically impossible since I can't even see weather I'm typing the password or not.
