SUMMARY I'm using Kubuntu 22.04 inside VirtualBox 6.1.30 on Windows 10. The VM has 32 GB memory, 300GB space, 4 CPUs. All running at about 10%. Everything will be going fine then suddenly parts of VS Code and other application stop responding. For instance, I cannot select anything in the sidebar of Code, nor the menu, but I can edit the current file fine, and close, move, and reopen the window. Once this happens, I won't be able to click anything inside Chromium, System Monitor, Discover, or Dolphin, but can move the windows without problem and restart them. But Firefox and LibreOffice will continue working perfectly. Restarting the offending apps solves nothing. Restarting the entire VM will fix the problem - but it will always reoccur 5 to 30 minutes later. STEPS TO REPRODUCE No idea, I just use the machine and eventually it happens. I'm happy to test anything you want and provide more info if you can help. SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Windows: 10 macOS: Eww no Linux/KDE Plasma: 5.24.4 (available in About System) KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0 Qt Version: 5.15.3
No, all applications' bars stop responding eventually - Firefox and Office too. Though they all respond perfectly to keyboard commands, like alt-F, just not the mouse.
I've now found only clicks on the left half of the screen on icons are ignored - moving the window to the right allows me to use the app fine. And clicking in a document (e.g. text / spreadsheet cell) works fine on the left, just not the menu bars, window bars, or even moving the window, once I've moved the right edge past the centerline of the screen. Click on the taskbar menus and icons on the left also works fine.
Looks like this is a virtualbox bug - https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/16296.
