Description Jan Bidler 2022-06-28 10:03:23 UTC
SUMMARY
NeoChat doesn't display emojis in the timeline and in messageboxes correctly. It does display them correctly in the emoji picker.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Send an emoji into a room, like `😀 🐶`

OBSERVED RESULT
First emoji will be displayed in monochrome, second emoji wont be displayed atall

EXPECTED RESULT
Both emojis should get displayed.

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
System 1:
Linux: Linux Mint 20
KDE Plasma Version: 5.18.8

NeoChat: 22.06, Flatpak
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.95.0
Qt Version: 5.15.5

System 2:
Windows: 10 21H1
NeoChat: 22.06
Kde Frameworks: 5.95.0
QT version: 5.15.5

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Both systems can display emojis in other applications fine, and have systemwide emojis installed.

Seems like there was an earlier issue for this https://invent.kde.org/network/neochat/-/issues/531
Comment 2 Jan Bidler 2022-07-12 16:28:09 UTC
Also affecting me on this machine:
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.25.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.96.0
Qt Version: 5.15.5
Kernel Version: 5.18.9-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
NeoChat: 22.06

Although slightly differently, as *some* emojis now render fully via my systems emoji font, others dont. The dog face for example renders correctly, but the smiley grin does not.
