when entering password/ fingerprint lock screen background becomes very bright, making light backgrounds hard to see and annoying

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Meta + L
2. type in password or use fingerprint

OBSERVED RESULT
while typing in password the background becomes significantly brighter making for a worse experience with light backgrounds

EXPECTED RESULT
having the choise to disable it in Desktop effects or not having this at all

I can confirm this with Plasma 5.25.0, X11, Arch.

Blurry date and dtime

In addition, in the view before entering the password, the date and time is somewhat blurry.

IIRC we have some detection for whether you have a light or a dark background and it applies different visual effects; maybe it's mis-identifying things here.

The detection appears to be working properly with a plain white background, at least in git master.
